Edmonton Oilers will try and force a Game 7 against the Florida Panthers in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Sunday.

Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe opened the scoring just over four minutes into the first period giving Florida a 1-0 lead.

The Edmonton Oilers will try and force a Game 7 against the Florida Panthers in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Sunday. The Oilers lost 5-4 in Game 6 at Rogers Place on Saturday night, giving the Panthers a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe opened the scoring just over four minutes into the first period, giving Florida a 1-0 lead. The Oilers responded with goals from Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid to take a 2-1 lead, but the Panthers tied it up with a goal from Sam Reinhart late in the first period.

The Oilers took a 3-2 lead early in the second period on a goal from Zach Hyman, but the Panthers tied it up again on a goal from Aleksander Barkov midway through the period. The Panthers took a 4-3 lead on a goal from Anthony Duclair late in the second period, and they extended their lead to 5-3 on a goal from Jonathan Huberdeau early in the third period.

The Oilers got one back on a goal from Leon Draisaitl late in the third period, but it wasn't enough to force overtime. Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves for the Panthers, while Mike Smith made 27 saves for the Oilers.

Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final will be played on Monday night at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. The Panthers will be looking to win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, while the Oilers will be looking to win their first Stanley Cup since 1990.
